Songul AslanturkHi, I am a second year ITP student. I am fascinated with beauty and perfection of nature. One thing I love most is to travel and discover places that are far from human and technology. When I find those places I look around fall in love with every bit of it. It is so perfect and harmonious that does not need anything, even I become extra and disturbing after a while. Concern with death of nature I have been looking around more and thinking what I can do to contribute to slower and maybe stop killing nature--altough only thing we destroy is not only nature but also us-humans. My yearly visits to Turkey has increased that demand more that I have become very passionate and concerned about creating respect for the earth. When you are far from a place that you grew up and experienced different parts of it deeply, short visits from time to time are sometimes shocking. First I become fascinated with how technology and everything else have changed the country and people's behavior but then I become sad when I look around and go to the places that I used to go for diving, hiking or just walking to take that fresh air, great smell of ocean and forest deep inside to dissolve myself in nature. We don't know how to appreciate and respect our home and each other. Since the earth has completed 90% of its life cycle and living almost last 5000-7000 years of its life, I feel that we should make it right and learn and teach each other how to respect it. I am hoping to find ways of learning this myself first and figuring out ways to develop some techniques and habits to lessen the damage that I and all of us give to the nature. After all it is where we live and want to live as long as we are alive. This is my class blog where I will document my research and thoughts. |
