Projects

The Green Room has been broken out into three different projects.

• Local Green Room Experience
• Floor Power Usage Visualization
• Solar Panel data and visualization

Local Green Room experience:

• Alternate lighting: Install low energy sources in the room that can be plugged into the solar charged battery.
• Analyze of room usage: Amp meters are attached to the electronic devices in the room:

Projector, tower pc, tower mac, modem, and monitor. Additional amp meters will be need to be set up on power strips for laptops, lights etc... as late-nights and weekend the room is used for a variety of projects.

• Have visual indicator mapped to each amp meter, so as each item is turn on there is immediate feedback on how much energy is being consumed.

The goal: Short term: User of the room sees an indication of the energy they are using. Hopefully, will prompt behavior change, such as turning off lights, projectors, etc when not using or leaving the room.

Long term: to gather data over time to see how much energy is consumed. This will help in determining the feasibility of running the room off of solar power battery. Have data for support of additional panels.

Floor Power Usage Visualization:

• A Visual Indicator that shows how much power is being consumed by each room on the floor. (starting with three) The use of an inflatable indicator will use to indicate that state of each room.

Solar Panel data and visualization: Gather reading and data on the amount of energy the solar panel is producing over time. Determine the effect of the weather on performance.

Have visual indicator of the energy consumption. Goal: to gather data on the capabilities of the current panel. Have data to support the need for additional panel. Gilad wll expand on this…
