| Still Here is an experimental digital narrative installation about time travel, hyperspace, and longing. | Are users compelled to interact with digital narratives? What elements can be incorporated into the digital narrative experience to make them more engaging? Narrative is not solely a discrete ordering of ideas, narrative is formed by the experience of the viewer. Viewer agency is a pivotal element of interactive narrative, how a user maneuvers through content shapes their understanding of the narrative structure. I aim to create a short form narrative experience which allows a user to navigate through multiple perspectives, scenes and parallel narratives to create a unique experience which they own. I believe that people want to have engaging media experiences. They want to explore narratives on their own terms to obtain a sense of ownership and accomplishment.
The story is an expolration of the memory of a woman who has chosen to become a multi dimensional being through genetic manipulation. The user is placed in the role of a future memory scavenger accessing memories through light. Still Here explores memory through the movement of light. |

| Audience: | my intended audience is people that have an interest in experimental film and installation art work. in the same turn fans of science fiction and independent film projects will be interested in this project because of it\'s evocative nature. This work seeks to mix audiences from several areas. | | User Scenario: | The user would see a projection of fractured light and slowly pulsing colors as a diptic on the wall. directly in front of the projection will be a white box which emanates a warm white glow. Colored shadows illuminate the ceiling above. as the user approaches, they will see 3 sliders on the white box and can see 3 colored tubes within the box one red, one green and one blue. As the user moves the sliders, narrative elements begin to emerge. Each slider will control a different element of the narrative. One will shuttle through a long clip made up of the main character addressing the user, telling her story in fragments. The user interacts as long as they remain interested. the piece returns to stasis when no user input is detected. |
