Description

The course of our lives is sometimes driven by our priorities; our personal aspirations, family, health or money/work. When one priority comes into conflict with another, we have to make choices and let one take the Way. "Right-of-Way" is an video installation built in a subway train environment. It allows the users to experience the tension and dilemma through different stories. The goal of this installation is to provide a space and a reflective moment for the users.

Implementation

This video installation consists of the followings:

1) A subway door (made of wood)
2) A 3-seat subway bench (made of wood)
3) 4 physical objects (a photo frame, a stack of dollar bills, a glass sphere, a clear bag with sneakers and apples

The setup:
space size: 3m x 3m
Videos will be projected onto a white cardboard. In front of the cardboard is the subway door. 6 feet across from the subway door is the bench. The 4 physical objects will be lying on the floor near the bench.

What's gonna happen:
The user sits on the middle seat of the bench. He picks up 2 objects and place them next to him (on either side). He will then see a video playing through the subway door. He will listen to the audio using the headphone.

Currently working on:
- the videos
- the bench
- the door

What's working and have been seen by instructor:
- the videos
- the sensor part of the bench
