Big Games

Pair Game Presentations

The Assignment

Find a person to work with. Pick a game, preferably one that exhibits qualities like we're discussing in Big Games (i.e. loads of players, long-duration, location-based components). If it's not a big game, pick a game that has qualities you think the whole class can learn from. Play this game together. Then for the presentation I want you to very quickly present each of your experiences playing the game--what you enjoyed, what didn't, what worked for you and what didn't. Then, with an eye towards LeBlanc's MDA article, I want you to tell us about several specific game mechanics that had interesting effects on the game and were in your view were essential to the aesthetic of the game. Pack all this into 7 concise, info filled minutes!

Think of it like presenting research findings to the team and highlighting interesting findings we can all learn from.
