The 230 students in the program come from a rich mix of disciplines, cultures, and experiences. The students who attend ITP are those who want more than just a skill. They are excited by the possibilities that emerging interactive technologies offer and want to work at the frontier of a rapidly expanding field.

ITP students represent many different countries forming a vast and vibrant community of people sharing diverse cultures, customs, and approaches to interactive technology. Past students have included graphic designers, computer scientists, journalists, dancers, photographers, architects, industrial designers, sculptors, painters, carpenters, media theorists, electrical and mechanical engineers, musicians, composers, filmmakers, lawyers, philosophers, anthropologists, zoologists, psychologists, doctors - all with an interest in exploring new forms of communications and expression.

Most students join the program after having worked professionally, although some students do come directly from undergraduate schools. There are equal numbers of men and women in the program. The ethnic and geographic diversity of our students spans the globe, from Western Europe to East Asia, from South America to Canada, and from Africa to Australia.

To represent the diversity of interests, ITP students organize their own clubs and interest groups. Some clubs of note are ITP Radio, ITP's online community radio station; the Drive-By Seminars, where students teach each other different skills; WIG, the Wearables Interest Group exploring fashion and technology as wearable devices; SMIT, the Sustainable Minded Interactive Technologies group; Wireless interest group; and more.
