- objective: enhance overall kitchen experience through remote monitoring and control interface.
setting: domestic kitchen
user group: everybody [disabled individuals, single parents, students, learning cooks, busy people, avid chef]
problems / proposed solutions:
- un-tether user from appliances (oven, stove, microwave oven, dishwasher) by allowing the following:
-wireless system:
- remote visual access (streaming internet video)
- remote alerting system (via sms, bluetooth, email, web interface)
- remote control system (dedicated device, sms, bluetooth)
- on / off
- temperature adjustment
- added safety:
- extensive alerting system
- live temperature monitoring
- teaching tool:
- mentor can offer remote input and assistance to cook.
- our goal is to equip common kitchen appliances with an array of sensors. Furthermore each appliance will be able to communicate in both directions (input / output) wirelessly allowing for remote monitoring and control of one's kitchen environment.
for our in class implementation, we intend to fabricate a mockup oven equipped with camera's, sensors, and the ability to communicate wirelessly. By demonstrating the advantages of this one appliance, we hope to demonstrate how this system can enhance the overall kitchen experience for everybody.
