sociableObjectsDoorbell – napDoorbell
in collaboration with Morgen Fleisig and with help from Michael Doherty
for this assignment, we were asked to first pair up a basic xBee setup, then move on to a doorbell exercise
we needed to come up with a way that a doorbell could give you feedback that you had indeed activated it, and allow the person in the house to set up a NAP mode for when he/she was taking a nap
our idea was to set up a doorbell that could be turned off in the event of a nap
when it would be pressed, an LED would light up in the house, but no sound would be emitted
if the person was insistent (such as in the case of an emergency), by pressing on the doorbell for a few seconds, a message would be sent to the phone of the person napping, with the intent of waking them up
this would also be beneficial in the event when you would be out for a quick errand, and can know that the delivery/exterminator/cable repair guy you have been waiting for has arrived at your house
this was achieved by linking the doorbell to an internet gateway, explained on the whiteboard by Rob Faludi, and
