Computational Media – Week 8

Dynamics Sketch for Meme Collider

Movement and GUI sketch

Meme Collider will hopefully grow into a final project for the semester. While I am still figuring out the basic logic, the general idea is a fluid space where words and phrases interact. Each “meme” is weighted using search engine results. At present the interaction model above allows for a basic ranking system that determines cluster and pair stability. Meme health is determined by an increment or decrement determined by a meme’s interactive state… applied over time.

Other possibilities include implementing further physics like charge or a meme spatial value that might further effect attraction, repulsion, or stability in addition to behavior like replication and or a transformation step like meiosis.

Though the current model is pretty simple it should allow for a dynamic environment where stable clusters and pairs could constantly be upset by new input into the meme space.
