The process is analogous to the way in which the dérive calls attention to the underlying structure of the city. In the process of creating the algorithm, I also hope to show the assumptions underlying even the way we formalize language, and the limitations of such formalizations. The question that runs through the project is this: Can an algorithm create a new reading of a formal system? Can an algorithm be artistic? Can it be progressive?
