once upon a forest..
I'm very interested in creating a passive piece that makes strong statements about are society or environmental activism as art without being 'in your face'. i was thinking of making a projected mural with a very vector based outline of a bird(s) (like how they appear when they are high in the sky) which would multiple or diminish depending on certain factors say noise pollution, air quality, the stock market. With the goal being maybe Id start out with 1000 birds and within a week or so it would be down to maybe 4-5 total. (It would be a time based piece).
Another option would be to have it be a forest and over the time of the piece more and more trees would most likely diminish into stumps and the piece would slowly deteriorate (assuming noise pollution, population or the element I choose to be the factor in determining growth was constantly getting worse)
An example of a social piece which really resinated with me was done by the Yes men (I think). They switched the voice boxes between GI Joes and Barbie dolls then restocked them at the store. Any other examples ?
