Inflatable structure for magic cape

In choosing between a wire or inflatable framework we’ve decided to favor the inflatable scaffolding for three primary reasons:

1) The inflatable material (most-likely some sort of plastic or rubber tubing) will be soft when deflated into a cape. This allows for both flexibility and wearability.
2) The act of watching a flat cape blow up into a 3D shelter will be more of a magical transformation than the alternative fold-up wire structure.
3) The alternative wire structure presents more safety issues (for example, the wire could pop out and cut someone).

Below are some rough sketches of the inflatable framework, and please check out our blog, Wearable Urban Habitat, for more details on alternative options and references.
