Loominosity!

Michelle and I have been playing with projection onto knitted structures.  We’re in the process of developing a sculpture that unravels as a story is created (possibly generatively with the viewers).  While the concept is still in an amorphous stage, we’re both inspired by ideas of story-telling, unravelling, and mythological archetypes such as Arachne, Ariadne, Penelope, etc.

Lost and Found

Our first assignment was to put together a narrative inspired by a CraigsList missing connections add and in the style of Chris Marker’s La Jetée.  Originally we’d planned to shoot in a bar, but we impulsively changed our minds when we saw how nicely moody Washington Square Park was (and bloody feckin cold at 2am).  Incidentally, I highly recommend Marker’s amazing piece, which speaks with the rhythms and gutter genius of the comic form (see Scott McCloud).
