Our Reaction
Amik, Sarah, Yin, and I delivered our reaction to Vito Acconci’s presentation. We had the crowd play a game with 3′ balloons that were lit from the inside. We asked the group a question, if you caught the balloon you shouted your answer and threw the balloon back up into the crowd for someone else to catch. We added more balloons as the time went on asking a new question each time. I think the crowd had fun doing this, some of the answers were hysterical.
When the game ended we surprised the crowd with a bunch of long exposure pictures of the action. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.
Our Reaction Set Up
We ripped open some super bright glowing ghost key chains to get the LED’s and battery packs. We needed to remove the blinking feature and a small speaker. We coated all of the lights in hot glue to insure they wouldn’t be damaged during our reaction.
Initial Test Shots
Some test shots of the long exposures with lit up balloons. Shots taken by Sarah.
First Day of School
First day of school, first class, first team to present their Reaction.

He went from poet, to conceptual/performance artist, to instillation artist, to architect/architectural designer. Quite a journey, but it’s going to be really hard to not think about what he was doing under that ramp.
