Karolinas piece Eternal Sunshine of the not so spotless mind was very much like sitting through a audio version of water torture and it seems that, that was part of her goal. A relentless repetition of the same questions asked over and over in the same tone. I would say that the audio could be tightened / edited to help with the pacing – that the redundancy is achieved midway through the piece and for the sake of this assignment could have been shortened by 50 %.I think that her controlled use of her own tone was really well done.. as the questions proceeded the subjects accent and tone was a bit hard to hear.
I think the exercise will be a interesting and successful piece when coupled with her original intent of combining it with video.
Naliakas piece “A Girl Name Gorgeous” at first was a bit confusing and at times overwhelming with a frantic mania type of energy, as we got deeper into the piece a connection was woven between the characters and the events in progress. I really enjoyed being able to hear parts of the story as they unfolded and came to head leading to the big performance. I enjoyed the music the excitement and the direction Naliakas piece took.
