Xport writing

On Sunday, we wrote a php file, which enabled Xport to write something into a txt file.

And we have the idea for the game. It is a horse race game. The pic counts how many times a button has been pressed. And Xport write that value to a txt file. Then maybe processing will read the value and put it into the game.

Reading Responses

Sonic City
the concepts are really interesting. and the design is multifunctional.
But i would not prefer a wearable device. from my personal view, i would not like listening to random sound while walking.
At ITP, I have seen so many interactive videos that takes in pictures and outputs a processed one. I think the sonic city is one of those kind of random "output".

FLIRT
I cannot open the full website of FLIRT.
So from the brief intro, I do not understand much about this project. How do they specify a place, gps? what kind of info would they offer?

Active Campus
I like this one. It is a mobile Alberta and ITP-listserv with more functions. But I think VPN can be more advanced. I do not know much about VPN, but remote access to school accounte is definately feasible.

MIT and microsoft is developing iCampus, which is really cool and sounds like a campus.

Urban Tapestries
It is like the wikipedia. Actually, in design expo class, our group have come to a very similar idea but more physical.

X-port

Last Class, we built the X-port board.
Useful links for X-port
Datasheet
User Guide
Quick Start
I am a little confused about the setup process.
Actually, I do not know how, but just read a little on the Lantronix website.
Lantronix is using a software called "Com Port Redirector" to assign IP address and other network configuration.
And it is using a "DeviceInstaller" for Windows OS to drive X-port.
