Technology
- The site was built using Dreamweaver and the Script.aculo.us Javascript libraries
- Videos where uploaded to a single blip.tv (Thanks!) account and tagged with two variables, name and question, i.e. "caleb, 01parents"
- Hard-coded customized blip.tv players were used in the "The Kids" video "Brady Bunch" grid.
- Customized blip.tv "Show players" with custom URLs that called tags and randomized them were used for the "Random Movie," and "The Questions."
Acknowledgements
I wish to thank: The participants who gave me their valuable time, energy, and thoughts. Nancy Hechinger for her expert guidance as my thesis advisor. Shawn Van Every and John Schimmel for programming help. Clay Shirky for content guidance. Red Burns for creating the environment of ITP. My friends for their support and help finding participants, specifically Lucas Longo, my always interruptible roommate, and Laura Goldblatt for her sage editing and support. Blip.tv for their technical support and patience. The NoEnd group for their expert group think feedback. My hippie family for their support, even in the face of personal criticism. And all the hippies who had the courage to rebel, educate alternatively, be green, eat organic, meditate, and do yoga decades before it became remotely mainstream. Overall, I believe they changed the world for the better. Peace and love.
