I started the assignment for Makematics this week working on Finger Tracking, but as soon as I started to play with Isolines I had an idea for a project that I wanted to try. Using the Isolines example from class, I took images of my face using a direct light that would make the points closest to the camera the brightest. Then using isolines, I drew contours using a brightness threshold. As the threshold is changed, the frame is saved as a tiff that will be used as a “slice” to create a 3D sculptural portrait.
Each layer was then cut from foam board.
