For this pendulum assignment I worked with Xuedi Chen and Anne-Marie Lavigne.  Here are some of our ideas and sketches for devices powered by our pendulum made in class:

First are the pendulum measurements:

1st idea:  Acme rocket launch

Have a match or maybe a bunch of matches attached to the swinging end of the pendulum.  At its lowest point it will strike a rough and combustable surface.  This will ignite the fuse on the rocket.

2nd Idea:  A pendulum powered stirrer and/ or masher.

This device uses our pendulum to drive a fulcrum and lever system.  The pendulum is on one end of the lever.  The other end will have our spoon or masher attached.

3rd Idea:  Pendulum powered camera

Using the same lever system as our second idea the pendulum operates the shutter and the film advance of a manual film camera.
