Vanessa– America’s high school system should be redesigned so that they better equip graduates for the demands of a high-tech economy. Students should be obligated to take programming classes each year. Unfortunately it may take some time before the educational system changes. Until then, Sam and I would like to develop a website that will match young [...] I did an ITP floor redesign. One thing that I feel is missing at ITP is a silent study room. I always go to the Library when I need to get work done. I also think it’s important to have a student lounge, similar to ITP’s, where students can socialize and have group meetings. [...] For this weeks assignment I designed a mock-up of a social media platform that would be used for education purposes. While brainstorming this weeks assignment, I kept thinking of ways Code Academy helps motivate it’s users/students to continue studying. It’s in great part, through it’s badges and study records that helps push students to continue [...] For this week’s assignment, I decided to start an online discussion on an interested TED Talk I saw last year by Sir Ken Robinson, that challenges the way children are being educated. I innitially tried to do it on wordpress, using buddypress. It worked fine but I felt as if it wasn’t the best platform for this [...] I did a simple tutorial on basic portuguese words and/frases. I created it in Prezi, edited it in Premiere and coded it in Popcorn.js. I left a few of the pronunciation pop ups in blank because I wasn’t sure what to write.
