As I summed up my experiences with online education, I discovered some fundamental necessities which don’t seem to translate from offline to online. Educational environments need presence and meaningful dialogue. They need focus, organization, and time commitment. They need to evolve and grow organically as necessary. So far I haven’t experienced this level of dedication to the “classroom” online.
Beginning along my path to the final, I would like to focus on what makes a successful educational environment and how it benefits both educators and learners in different and similar ways. I would like to explore the feasibility of achieving a successful model in a new format, or a hybrid format.
I also have a lot of curiosities about the economics of higher ed. I feel that much of this information is confusing and opaque to most people. I wonder if a data viz might be possible, but more on that exploration later.
