This has been a 2 week development into exploring the act of salivation.
First, I chose this theme as it slightly relates with my thesis topic of Food. To detect the act of salivation I thought one simple method was to detect when someone swallows. For this, the quickest method I explore was to place a stretch sensor around my neck. This became a very crude and unadvised device, but it did give me somewhat reliable readings.
The second stage was to connect this sensor to an outward recording device. A USB camera was my choice. It became a ‘SalivateCam’ and took a photo every time I swallows.
