I have made some progress on reading my heart rate in a specific time. But the outcome was a little scary so I don’t know the numbers that I was getting was right or not.
I used the chip from sparkfun that connects to the polar heart rate monitor. For the first test to see if the chip was reading data, I made it blink. According to the manual if you see the led of the chip turn on you have power, if you see it starting to blink that means that you have the connection and the chip is receiving data from the polar monitor.
To read my heart data I used QuickTerm that was suggested by the manual. The next step will be to attach it to the Arduino and create a visualisation. But for now I received my heart rate through commands. The 3rd number that the chip came back with is the heart rate. Something interesting happened though, well something scary. My heart rate was way up high. If the numbers are right I must definitely make sure to see my endocrinologist. This might be due to the hormones that I am taking but a part of me wants not to believe to the numbers and try to come up with a better solution
