NEW YORK CITY WATERFALLS.

The New York City Waterfalls by artist Olafur Eliasson is a public art display of four man-made waterfalls in the New York Harbor situated along the shorelines of Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Governors Island. The Waterfalls range from 90 to 120-feet tall and will be on view from June 26 through October 13, 2008.

They choice of the natural element, water, did not seem to be done randomly. The artist has made several pieces of art always regarding nature, and environmental surroundings. As everyone knows, water has been getting more and more scarce and expansive now a days, so it might be a good question to think about.

Public art allows us to experience things together, thus enables people to share they're own point of view about a common subject. By watching the waterfalls, one can feel how the water floats the boat, where everybody is together to say: the public space; the sound it makes, and whatever sensation one might experience.

The waterfalls are placed in strategically lieu, so you can see it from a variety of different public or private places as well. This enhances the public aspect of the art installation. From whatever place you see it, you see it from a different angle, you have a different picture of it. This is very interesting, for the object is always changing, and the viewer has many thoughts about it.
