Project Development
The projection size test has shown to be an important prototyping test with an unexpected discovery. I discovered by looking at my project in a smaller scale that it needed to be wider to utilize peripheral vision. When I projected a single image at a smaller size I found I wanted to be closer to it. By making it wider I also found I moved my head to inspect the from more. When the image was projected larger I moved my eyes but not my head as much. This was an interesting unexpected consequence of the size that deserves more investigation.
The following are initial sketches of the video screen layouts I am investigating
Project development post mortem
Project Description: “Fall” is a 3 channel video installation based on the transition from the fall season to winter in New England. It explores the beauty of nature while representing the human structural relationship within the world. The 3 channels of video play on holographic film screens made of plexiglass that are suspended [...]

The Built Through taping out the size of the viewing structure I think 1/3 scale works well. There will be a few cheats in the sizing to allow for people to actually sit in the structure. Something to think about as I finalize the size is the dimensional meaning in traditional Feng Shui. My main [...]
“Seasons” Prototype mid project
I decided to interpret a Japanese Tokonoma (alcove) in the “Seasons” installation. Tokonoma has been very influential in architecture around the world. In the west it has been used in the sense of a “Hearth Room” (Frank Lloyd Wright). It is appropriate for “Season’s” because it combines a modular and structurally independent space into [...]
Current Content Questions for “Seasons”
Should I play a more active role in pointing the viewer to certain elements in the landscape of the video? I really liked what Pawel Wojtasik did with blocking his frames and channelling them in “at the still point” and it got me thinking about wether I should have a more visible hand in some [...]
Current design questions and sketches for “Seasons”
I still have some decisions to make about the direction “Seasons” is taking. I am not sure if I should go with the installation design I currently favor (one or 2 screens in a v or 1 screen in a half moon shape) or stay with the four walled concept. If I go with the [...]

First Description of “Seasons”
I finally realized I never posted the following description of “Seasons” that I wrote 3 to 4 weeks ago so I wanted to post it so it is entered into the “Record”. Seasons first description “Seasons” is a large scale multi channel video installation based on the 4 season’s of the year. It contains landscape [...]
Project Development screen installation prototype
I have been investigating the idea of making the installation four sided with one side for each season. I am not married to creating a box and not sure that I am a fan of the four sided 90 angle approach. It feels like that putting the video on 4 sides in a box may [...]
