Minimal narrative
Our assignment was to create a minimal narrative, using only basic shapes or sounds. I chose to tell a story from classical mythology using only simple shapes.
It is the story of Perseus rescuing Andromeda, from Greek mythology. I made it in Adobe After Effects.
I tried to adhere to some obvious conventions eg. using pink for Andromeda, white for Pegasus, blue for the sea monster and gold for Perseus.
However, there was a lot of ambiguity re: what was actually going on. I suspect much of this could have been resolved had the timing of the animation been better. In particular, the part where Perseus fights the sea monster could have been more dynamic and violent.
