Sensory enhancement

My project for the body & biology project is to enhance/modify my hearing through the use of external microphones.

I have already tried simply using a field recorder with built-in mikes and a pair of decent headphones. Since I can move the field recorder around, I can sense sounds in a different way. For example, moving the recorder near to a computer makes the sound of its cooling fans loud and powerfully mechanical.

My next step is to attach mikes to my hands, and listen to them through headphones connected to the field recorder. The field recorder works as a simple amp, and of course helps me document what I find...

Another potential experiment is to attach a good quality stereo mike to my head, once again routed through a field recorder.
