Over the Decades, How States Have Shifted _ Design Analysis
I choose the infographic of New York Times. You can fully enjoy this amazing thing at http://goo.gl/QwuVm.
I choose this one because it is telling a great story. To be honest, I am not that interested in american politics, I just feel that it is the story from far away. However, this graphic makes me curious about american political history and people. What happened? What made this change? Also, this graphic has a lot of information. It is showing who was winner, how poll has changed in each states, and how many electoral votes they have. In spite of this bunch of information, there is no mess!
In terms of color, I was a bit confused at first time, because red always stand for lefty in my country. It seems that t these colors clearly point to each party in this country.
They are of course using grid system, and it is applied to text part. Perhaps that is why it looks neat.
Only two fonts were used in this graphic. I think better font can be chosen for title, but san-serif font for contents seems to be a good choice.
