With the assignment to create an expressive puppet, I immediately thought I wanted to create a depressed and sad old lady. I used model magic and as I started sculpting, her story formed. She’s an old punk. She played CBs in 77. She slept with all the Dead Boys. She goes by Sheena, but that really isn’t her name.

Antonius created the beautiful old Preston. We decided that they were each other’s only friends despite the fact that they hated each other. They bump into the lovely Ike, a caterpillar, created by Eric. We decided that they would teach the caterpillar to fly by also teaching the expressions “open” and “close”. This was largely governed by the actions our puppets could perform.
