How to Perform Your Solitary Presence

On Waking
This is your time to center and energize.
Affirmations
Every morning before putting your mind to the new day, practice the following affirmations while breathing deeply and slowly through your nose.
1. Focus your attention on your heart.
Say to your heart, "Hello, heart. I love you.
You´re healthy and strong."
Repeat this attentive procedure with your
lungs, stomach, brain, legs, arms, and all your body parts,
taking special care with any part of you that seems out of alignment.
2. Take a few silent moments to appreciate the good rest you´ve enjoyed and the day to come.
Thank yourself for treating yourself well and give thanks to the world for letting you be in it.
3. Say to yourself, "Self, this is going to be a healthy, productive, invigorating day.
Everything that I need to do will be done, and if it doesn´t get done, it didn´t really need to be done.
The universe is conspiring to help me succeed."
4. There is no place I´d rather be than right here, right now. The best home for me is in me.
Movement, Cleansing, and Nutrition
1. Stand up facing the sun and stretch your whole body. Exhale forcefully, ejecting all the old, stale air from your lungs, and then inhale fresh, pure air into your body.
2. Shake yourself all over, dislodging any negative energy you may have accumulated while resting and defenseless.
3. Work up a sweat through your preferred method of exercise: running, yoga, gymnastics, dance, martial arts. This will clear the toxins from your body and ready your mind for the day ahead.
4. Replenish yourself with a simple breakfast.
Personal Action
You are your own best audience. Entertain yourself with a personal action of surprise and renewal. You will never run out of good ideas, but here are some tips to get you started.
1. Give yourself a new name, a new identity for the day.
2. If you wear makeup, put it on as if you were five years old.
3. If you have no makeup, try to use some ordinary household items to imitate the effects of makeup.
4. Facing a mirror, come up with a signature gesture to use throughout the day. Introduce yourself to your new self.
Before Sleeping
This is your time to replenish your energies and re-ground.
Affirmations
1. Say, "This day was the best it could have been. I am so grateful for this day."
2. Go back over the day in your mind. Recall everything from waking to this moment, without evaluating or judging.
3. Just before sleep, imagine yourself releasing the day´s events as if they were contained in a small yellow balloon drifting away into the sky.
