| Concept Taking care of a plant is very difficult. If the person doesn't take care of the plant, it will die due to the lack of water or sunshine. If the person takes too much care of the plant, such as giving it too much water or over extended exposure to sunlight, it will also die. The plant needs a certain level of affection to ensure vivid growth and the ability to bloom. This is similar to relationships between people or between people and other living things. There should be a certain distance to maintain a good relationship at all times. "Affection" is about the relationship between people and plants which is symbolic of affection in other relationships between living creatures. If the user is far away from the flowers, the lightings of the flowers will appear to be dim and will produce a dull sound. If the user gets close to the flowers, they will appear to be brighter, and will trigger a fast tempo and joyous music. However, if the user moves too close and touches the flower, the lights will blink and a high pitch and annoying sound will be produced. Eventually, the flowers will be turned off. The light and sound are metaphors for the plant 's life. So, the user will recognize the flowers becoming more lively, based on the brightness of the lights and speed and pitch of the sound. The physical distance will be used to define the affection level because the proper amount of attention is needed for a happy and healthy life. This project will include ultra tri-colored LEDs with flower-shaped fiber optics on top of a mirror. It will be attached to distance sensors that will detect the distance between the user and flowers. ![]() ![]() [final version] |
