The goal of user testing is to get insights that enable you to improve what you are building. You should try to get your testers to think out loud. You want to hear their thought process. In class we will practice different testing scenarios: concept testing, wireframe testing and testing on a finished site. For each we will define the behavior we are hoping to gain insight on and compose scripts to help us uncover the answer. The questions we hope to answer:
- did the user understand what the site intent was without your having to explain it to them?
- did they take the action you intended to take?
- if asked to do a task, did they know how to accomplish it?
- what was their intuition versus your expectation?
Assignment
Based on the examples we experimented with in class you should have a good idea of how to test your idea. For class on Wednesday, please have conducted some user testing and come to class prepared to share your experience and share what you learned from it.
