Remix/Reframe

Assignment: Create a Remix, in which the content and form are reflected in each other. The original(s) should be recognizable, but you should think about saying something new in your reframing/remixing of the original material.

For this assignment, I remixed the content of childhood letters from a friend into a textual collage, compressing and commenting upon the angst, drama, and passion of adolescence. I projected the video (below) onto a set of white no-frills tanktop and underwear as a way of telling the narrative of dawning sexuality on the metaphorical canvas of innocence.

Post-mortem: While the content of the movie were compelling, the class and I agreed that the projection onto the underwear failed to enhance the experience. Suggestions for future iterations included using multiple screens at a larger scale.
