Locket getting there...
It took much more time than I had expected, but I was able to get the battery and the screen into the locket, and to attach leads made of conductive fabric to both the battery and the screen, which make contact when the locket is closed. My main problem now is that the contact they make isn't reliable enough, and sometimes you have to squeeze the locket shut to get the slideshow running smoothly.
