Introduction:

Minu, Bae studies at Interactive Telecommunications Program in New York University. He studied visual communication design in college. After graduation, he became a candidate for a Master’s degree for ITP. From a young age, he has been interested in the direction of design and technology in society. As a student in the ITP, he is focusing on how creative design and functional technology can help people expand their capacity and sensibilities with using computational media.

Previous Research History: Research about UX and Interaction Designs
He is acquainted with basic elements (color, layout, and sound etc) for human learning are significant. His recent study shows that simple geometric design and functional technology can benefit learning education to improve creativity in ITP. ‘MiTP: a new paradigm learning tool to improve creativity’ will practically help music and mathematics education for all ages and abilities. While people play the music scored game, they can learn mathematics: geometry, probability, and trigonometry etc. as well as improve their creativity. The project presents at 2009 ITP Winter Show in the public. Through this research, He direct to keep study how basic elements for human learning help human beings enhance creativity. Proving MiTP to serve as an effective learning toy for mathematics and creativity is his long-term goal.

In the college, he also gains interest into information communication on the web. Many people are searching information through the internet. Visual environment on the web, however, is not refined. People are hard to get information quickly, since enormous information is not enough organized in an effective way. Through the final team research project: ‘Improving Naver’s main page’, he try to resolve and upgrade information architecture system for the web. He realize that by changing layout design system, subsequently people are able to get information on the web.

Current Research topics: Research about new concepts of interaction design with new computational media
Recently, he has been developed ‘Graph Paper Game’ that is a educational entertainment game for young children. He is exploring in new concept of interaction design between computational media, such as a Smartphone, a tablet PC, a Smart TV, and so on. He is also interesting about how the concept of game and new computational media can be applied to traditional education system.

A game is really good example for interaction design. In order to create really good a game, game designers has to study about human behavior that is related with interaction design. He is also thinking about what the new possibility of interaction design in the future. Most of people have Smart phones and personal computers. Most of houses, offices, and class rooms will be using Smart TVs, and other new computational media. There will be happening new concepts of interaction design. He not only researches about the new concept of interaction design but also creates the prototype of emerging interaction designs. He makes the prototype of a Smartphone remote controller to interact with Graph Paper Game. People can control any games on a computer with a Smartphone by using Wi-Fi connection between a Smartphone and a computer.

Future Research Plan: Human Learning Development with using computational media
His future study plans are how computational media can help human learning development. Especially, he is going to study new platforms of computer (smartphone and tablet PC, etc) in order for human to expand their capacity for brilliance. He will keep exploring into how simple learning elements (color, geometry, and sound) help people improve human development effectively.

He is also interesting about Social Networks Services. What the next concept of Social Networks Services will be Interested in the area for him. In these day, he is enjoying creating the new concept of SNS that is ‘Space-based Social Network Service’. He will be keep working on Space-based SNS.

Conclusion:
Interaction, Game, User Experience Designs, Mathematics, Music, and Object-Oriented Programming have fascinated Minu.
