Communications Lab - Week 3
This week, after seeing what others had done with their websites, I wanted to do a little more with mine. Here is a link to what my site used to look like. I know the colors may not be the best choice, but I was just experimenting with how I could control each element. I'm still looking around at other sites to see what I like about them and try to do use them to make my site look better.
Floating Island and Manhattan Short Film Festival
This week was filled with new experiences. On Friday, I went down to Wagner Park around 1:30 to check out the floating island. It was pretty interesting. I was surprised though at how little people there were around to see the floating exhibit. And even the people that were there, seemed to take no interest.
On Sunday, I stopped by the Manhattan Short Film Festival. They were having viewings in Union Square Park, just a few blocks from where I live. There was a screen set up outside and a projector, and people would just plop themselves on the ground in front of it. The first film I saw started off as a film from the silent era. Then the subject becomes disoriented and jumps out of the frame. He is then introduced to sound and later color and is overwhelmed. He then jumps back into his world with some colored flowers for his girlfriend because he is late. I thought this film was great. I loved how they were playing with the idea of the frame in a movie, and the character was going past those boundries and climbing up the side of the spokes of the film. I could only stay for an hour or so, but what I saw I enjoyed.
