This week's project was a lot of fun. First we came up with a story line, and we each created a story board. We decided to shoot it in my apt because we could only film at night and it was less crowded than the ITP floor. We ended up with some really great shots. Aaron was greally good at playing with the lighting, so we had very dramatic stills. We were talking about just importing the stills into iMovie because we had some great sequences, but decided it would be more fun to create a comic book page in Photoshop. It's very interesting to see the way the presentation changes just by changing the the size and location of the photos. I'm very happy with our end result.
I went to see the speaker on Friday who's from Cycle 74. I had very high expectations for this event because I know many projects done in ITP use MAX/XP which is created by Cycle 74. I have very little previous knowledge of the application before I went to the event, and was hoping to learn more by attending. Unfortunately, that didn't really happen. The speaker started off stating that it would be boring to watch someone demoing MAX/XP, and that instead he was going to do something that was even more boring, which was read from a prepared speach. While the joke was funny, we soon realized that he was serious and was not going to demo (or even show the application) and just read from a prewritten sheet. He spoke a lot about his childhood, and while some of the antidotes were cute, the overall presentation, was mind numbing. Many people left early, but I feel rude when I do that, and tried sticking it out till the end. I could not even stay to finish off the question and answer session.
