Again!
One more time.
For this week, we were sent out into the world to explore streaming media outlets and write our comments. I didn’t really see anything terribly exciting or new out there. There are of course the internet radio stations where you can stream the music. But really after reading Live TV is dead, and we’re noticing the smell I started thinking, really what’s the point of streaming this rather than just downloading a podcast and listening to it on your own time. With the streaming, you don’t really need to think about it at all…just visit your trusty streaming online radio station and they’ll tell you what to listen to. There is that element of surprise though, where you hear a great song that you weren’t expecting or haven’t heard in a long time. Whereas if you had the podcast, more than likely you would have available a list of the songs included in the file. To me this illustrates the passive media consumption of ‘old media’.
I also enjoyed finding streams of television from all over the world at http://wwitv.com/portal.htm and watching the live webcam of the TV in Times Square
