ahoy there fellow ITPer?, welcome to me pComp journal
LAB ASSIGNMENT #1 ELECTRONICS

Behold my first attempts in physical computing. notice the makeshift switch.

Another series of LEDs? arranged differently.

In comes the variable resistor, aka potentiaometer.

I was confused on how to make an application (puzzle, combo lock) so I experimented by linking wires and LEDs? into different places.
LAB ASSIGNMENT #2 PIC PROGRAMMING
It took me many hours to get the microchip programmer to work. Some of the PIC programmers weren't being recognized by the computers because of loose serial connections. After my third one, I was able to program some chips, but blew one up 'cause i didn't run the power through my 5V regulator and accidently sent it 12v direct, which was quite fun actually. I also messed up some 18F452 by pulling them out with my hands- DOH! After some time, I got my 18F452 to work and was able to use a makeshift switch to make a series of lights blink successively. No pics this week, just a lot of frustration and releif once things started to work.
LAB ASSIGNMENT #3 ANALOG IN
I hooked up a potentiomenter, my makeshift switch and a flex sensor to send serout2 info into the communicator. At first i was getting no readings, but then realized i had to hit the connect button and all was peachy. It is nice to see the raw data printed out on screen, which gives me a much better idea of how the resistors work and their ranges. The communicator in microcode is a very hand tool.
LAB ASSIGNMENT #4 ANALOG OUT
At first i tried to write code from scratch to pulse the servo but my code was jenk and it was broken all over. So i grabbed the sample code and tweaked it a little bit, got the servo to move around. Chris K. hooked up an oscilloscope and we watched the pulses which looked a lot like the picture you drew in class of the high and low rectangles (spikes)- which was real nice to see. I have no idea how to work the oscilloscope myself, but it was nice to see it nonetheless.
LAB ASSIGNMENT #5 SERIAL
Things have gotten a little crazy: Midterms, internship, fellowship application deadline and my apartment is being torn apart!! How did this happen all at once? It is seriously kicking my ass! Excuses aside, I didn't do the serial lab but worked a little bit with Jury and Chris on our midterm project which sent serial into processing.
Dan and I worked on some more Serial work with the meditation final. However, we basically used Tom's code and changed it around a little bit. God I am such a hack! (shaking head in dissapointment) We had our own code going, but spent so much time troubleshooting it that we had use Tom's code 'cause we were running out of time.
LAB ASSIGNMENT #6-8 MOTORS
The gig is up, I didn't do the motor lab, but i read some of the documentation. I had no idea ITP was going to rock me so hard. Shouldn't have done the internship this first semester, really paying for it now. DOH!
LAB ASSIGNEMNT #9 MIDI
In the works..... err...
