Armpit Switch
I chose the armpit because it sounded funny to me. I kept thinking of my backpack straps that go under my arms. Some possible uses:
- volume control for iPod or the like (could be used on trains/stations when they give the announcement that your train is going to be delayed 5 hours)
- Blinkers for bike riders/messengers - if there were a switch on each strap for right and left blinkers and connected to super-super bright LED's on either side of the backpack. I couldn't experiment with this motion because my roommate was using HER bike all week.
Most people don't wear backpacks all day long, especially in class. If you incorporated a force-sensing resistor under one arm and a switch under the other, you could adjust the temperature of your electrically heated long underwear or heated pants. This would be especially good while sitting in class in the Japanese room. The switch would turn the electric heating on/off and the FSR would adjust temperature. I thought of this yesterday while sitting in the Japanese room. I noticed when I get cold, I usually put my upper arms close to my torso and kind of flex to generate some heat. Then, when class got out, you could just slightly flex and turn off the heat.
