Kinetic Violence and Aural Beauty - Todd Makinen
Min : Todd M's final sound awesome. Can't wait to hear it! :) And thanks for the link to the metal shop. A bunch of us here have been wondering where to find a place to weld...
Rebecca: 3 Ideas | UPDATE: Table Project
Min : I like your idea #1. Because food is such an important part in our lives, it's both easy and hard to educate people on it as far as social issues and our daily choices of foods are concerned.
Hey Rebecca, the Qprox sensors on my blog.... Hope this helps. I've actually lent out all my qproxes, since I wasn't using them right now but contact Anne Hong. She may have a few you could play around with.
Lisa: Some ideas here - all about blindess issues

chris: I'm going to make a device that collects temperature data for babies/infants and broadcasts that data visually (non-linguistically. hope that makes sense.) with colors.
Gabe: In the process of buying a typewriter and also researching sensors for keypress. I have decided to make a performance piece that can also be used as a teaching tool but is primarily abstract. Also working with someone from another class on connecting the typewriter to visuals through processing.
Josh:Before opening a delivery box or a present, I would shake it and listen to imagine what's in the box. Because using the internet or cellphone to connect with people is the most popular communication way, I almost forget the feeling about receiving a box which is delivered from my family or friends (of course, not from the online shopping :)). I think, the behavior of delivering or receiving a box to or from friend is very different with sending a image or text message through internet or cell phone. I'm thinking about transferring the "virtual communication" back to "the real" or adding more fun on it.
I would like to focus on shaking and listening behavior. It can be a voice mail physical box which can record voice or short music and present some simple symbol through LED Dot Matrix system, or, a kind of box toy or simple instrument. It can also be a voice reminder LED clock.
I don't know how far I can reach the goal, but I'll try my best. :)
Charles: A pedal-based, human to computer interface designed specifically for people in the high-end graphics industry. More to come.
Max: Current task:
• Smooth the changing of brightness
• Add sound elements( to be confirmed ): We’re going to integrate a home-made iPod controller into the chair. So the chair can play some music or sound effect when there’s nobody around the chair ( in order to draw attention? ). If someone’s sitting on the chair, stop the music. Or maybe we’ll add some touch sensor. So people can control the music.
near future:
• Using voice recognition. The chair will response to some certain words you speaking. We have already did some research about this. Not quite clear about this. To be confirmed.
• Emotion recognition. Still to be confirmed.
