Nancy's Interests

Nancy D. Lewis - Interests

  Reading:
Children's books, of course, but also: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Mystery.
Generally, I don't like the mainstream fiction, which, by the way, is just as much
a genre as the fiction that I do like.

  Writing:
In addition, to my children's book writing career (I consider myself a children's
book writer aspiring to be published), I have also dabbled in Science fiction
stories, haven't hit my stride there yet.

  Crocheting:
Not that I've had much time for this lately, but I've always found crocheting to
be a restfull activity that I can do while watching TV. These days, when I have time
capable of to watch TV, I'm either working on the computer or so brainless that my
fingers aren't manipulating yarn or thread.

  Family Genealogy:
My grandfather traced the Lewis Family geneology all the way back to Thom the Saxon
(who fought for William of Orange in the Battle of Hastings in 1066). Okay maybe
that's no exactly verifiable, but Alice Winthrop, sister to Governor John Winthrop
of the Massachusset's Bay Colony, is one of my ancestors. On my mother's mother's
side, the Weddle and Epperly family has also been traced back to pre-Revolution
Virginia. I'm still waiting for the Goodman and Loeb genealogy (my mother's father's
side) and Engle and Schmidt (my father's mother's side).

  Movies:
I love going to the movies and sitting as close to the front as I can. Again,
I like Science Fiction and Mystery, as well as, good action flicks. Any movie that
I "ought" to go see is one that I'd really rather not. Movies are escape, escape is
good. I live in reality and have no desire to see movies about it.
