ITP INTERVIEWS
This week I interviewed people from ITP. I set up my tripod in the adjunct faculty room and asked people if they would like to be interviewed. The people I interviewed are from different countries and places: Giana from Panama, Carola from El Salvador, Yonatan from Eritrea, John from Pennslyvania, and Lasse from Detroit (originally from Germany).
The ITP floor is a little bit noisy, so in the background there are footsteps, people talking, water running, laughter, etc. that seems a little hard to get rid of. However, it doesn't really disturb me that much, I think it even makes it a little more natural.
I was happy with the answers they gave me. In class there were reactions to the interviews and that they were "artificial", but on the contrary, they were very natural. None of these people knew what my thesis was exactly about, they only knew that it was a documentary on loneliness (except for Lasse since he's in my thesis class he might inevitably know more than the others).
Also, in class I was advised to put myself in the video as well, which I was planning on doing anyway. In the video, I will briefly talk about the reasons for making this documentary while showing scenes of New York- and people. The thing I haven't decided yet is whether I want to do a voice-over, or whether I want to communicate in text. Although I'm not really good at voice-overs, I guess that's what I will end up doing.
