WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK
This week I did my last set of interviews. It's strange how I don't need any interviews any more, and suddenly people volunteer to be interviewed. Anyway, I set up my camera in Washington Square Park, stood in front of the camera while people rejected me. Some people said they were in a hurry, some said they weren't interested, some didn't even say anything and just walked away looking at me as if I were a freak or something, which was very rude.
Anyway, as I had given up hope, and had put my camera and tripod away for a while, two girls approached me asking me to do a survey for them. I wouldn't do it normally, but I told them I would do it in exchange for a survey for me. They agreed. I thought they were NYU students, but they turned out to be graduates, and they were working. I didn't even ask them what the survey was about, but it turns out that it was sort of propaganda to get people to practice Christianity. They totally had the wrong person for that, and I told them that I wasn't even a Christian, that I was a Muslim, but that I didn't practice it. They didn't like me at all, but they gave me an interview anyway so I was glad.
Anyway, besides that, I got 2 other interviews who seemed to be NYU students; a girl from Connecticut (I forgot to ask her name) and Will from Long Island. They gave interesting answers; the girl told me she cried when she felt lonely, and Will said that he prefered to eat alone, and that he didn't like eating in front of other people. It was very interesting to get other people's opinions.
Last, but not least, while I was asking people to participate in my documentary, an intellectual looking man with long gray hair approached me and asked me what I was shooting. I told him it was a documentary about loneliness for my thesis, and he said he would give me an interview. He turned out to be Curtis Knapp (photographer) and he gave me the best interview ever! After that I decided not to do any more interviews, and started editing. I guess I have maybe too many interviews at the moment and I'm working on the editing. I'm presenting my project on Monday the 24th.
