Audio Project
by Songul and Charles
Concept: Telling a story by using sound effects while Theodore Roethke reading his poem " The Waking".
We wanted to experiment to see how we are going to end up by using the same poem and the content of telling the same story on our individual ways. Here is my piece.
The Waking
Our story:
- Heavy rain, a man driving
- Stops the engine and walks out the car
- Goes inside the building, climbs up to stairs
- Opens the door
- Stops and thinks for a moment (silence)
- Walks to the bedroom door and opens it
- Shoots the man in the bed with her wife
Here is the poem;
The Waking
by Theodore Roethke
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.
Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me, so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.
Sounds:
- rain on window
- car-traffic
- stopping car engine
- openning a car door
- walking-foot steps
- openning a building door
- foot steps-up to stairs-breathing and heart beat
- Opening an apartment door
- foot step and stop-silence-slow breathing
- walking - foot steps
- laughing and talking in the background from distance
- stop and opening the door
- metal-gun trigger sound
- shooting
- Silence
