2D Gallery is located right on Saint Marks and
3rd Ave, the center of the east village in New York City. As all
the other common apartments in the east village, 2D gallery is
a small tiny apartment where there are a couple and a puppy live
in. It has beautiful exposed brick wall and a not working marble
fireplace, but the building itself is over 100 years old, and has
crappy neighbors who smokes pot 24/7. The reason of this place
has to be the one is, this is what east village is. Everyday, there
are thousands of tourists poured on St Marks. What they want is
to see how people live in the east village.
Due to the small gallery space, I had to come up with showcase
ideas, which were the Cabinets of wonder. Literally, I’m
going to make cabinets that have wonders in it. 15 cabinets are
the stage of the art works. It’s good for the video screening
in it. Each Cabinet is possible to install the computer from the
back of the cabinet. It you are having hard time to visualize what
that is, just look at the lockers in ITP. Each cabinets charges
25 cents per view. Yes, 4 dollars admission. I’m going to
design the Exhibition invitations and pamphlets. I’ll also
provide drawings of gallery plan, and a demo locker with video
installation in it.
Cabinet Simulation "Gossip Box"
Description:
This is a simulation of the cabinet box called Gossip Box. In this
box, there is a monitor that is playing a video, which content
is about gossips around ITP. Once you open it a little, people
who are talking about gossip stop talking, and pretend doing
something else. Then you open it wide, people will denies that
they were talking about gossip. The door of the box is connected
to a flex sensor. This sensor send 3 different signal to Max,
and 3 movie clips play and are shown on the monitor.

What Else Can it be?
Architectural models with little lightings and Narration
for sound
Theatre design models with lightings and Play line
or Opera music for sound
I would like to have a little space that people
can rest and enjoy the typical apartment in East Village. To do
so, the gallery needs to spare some space to the public and provide
snack corner with seating area. I will keep using my daybed and
dining table for that matter. The one thing to add is Vending machines
that have drinks and food. Since I make the best hamburger patty
and espresso, I will cook by myself. This will save serving time
and space.
Kiosk
I have a flat screen TV that fits perfectly on my
fireplace. I'm going to use this TV as a Kiosk info screen that has
current exhibition information, following show information, hours,
and etc.

Conclusion
We don't have to worry about lighting or spacing.
Opening the cabinet itself is triggering interaction. However,
the size of the cabinet is limited, so only special form of art
work is applicable. This project is planned for $500,000 budget.
