Tak Tak Tak
Observation – Sensitive Buildings

Project with Phil Groman, Monica Bate and Manuela D’awesome.
Our first assignment we’re asked to go out and observe, record what we find and trade with a different group and compare results. We choose the courtyard of the Brooklyn Museum and Grand Army Plaza.
Brooklyn Museum

Grand Army Plaza at Prospect Park.

Overall we found a significant difference in the pace of travel. Even though they are programmatically similar spaces, both had heavy traffic surrounding a public open space, both provided some sort of seating, it is at the Grand Army Plaza site that there’s most recreational atmosphere. One main reason is because there’re many food truck vendors there and because it’s at the entrance to Prospect Park.
