Encore:
GERSHWIN "The Man I Love" (arr. for piano left hand by Earl Wild)

Last Thursday, I attended Leon Fleisher's recital. Before the concert, I expected music of Albeniz because I love the Daniel Barenboim's play of it.

During the performance, I could feel an easy and composed attitude of the great artist from just entrance of him to every touch. I really enjoyed Chopin Scherzo No. 3 as well as Bach and Albeniz. Even though there was no intensive music or flowery techniques, I was so impressed by the master's profound play.

Fleisher's encore, Gershwin "The Man I Love", may signified much. Grabbing the side of piano with right hand, he started encore only with left hand. I read just before the concert that he had severe period of not being able to use his two right hand fingers. However, he never gave up and overcame the situation and showed his passion by playing music piece for left hand at the Carnegie Hall.

This encore reminded me of Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 4. I was also moved so much by Paik, Kun-Woo's play and the episode of composition of that music.
