Midterm Idea - Caligraphy Tool

I always love making Kufi caligraphy (the graphic, boxy caligraphy below) for friends and family, and while I enjoy how time-intensive and hand-made it is, it would be nice to have a tool that would help create the caligraphy, or at least a tool to make a draft of the ideas I have in my head in a much quicker manner.
