I chose to analyze only ‘Webtoon’ section from Daum and Naver. These are the main pages.
I’m not really sure about Naver’s genre or theme.
These are the time tables you can see on the home page. Daum shows the day’s comics, and Naver shows the whole week’s time table.
The number of the comics per day is about the same for both sites. It is a little easier to see what are today’s comics in Daum because you don’t have to scroll down.
Some comics are published more than once a week. If you like one comic, you would like to know when to come back for that specific one. In that sense, Naver is easier to see the whole week’s schedule.
Daum also provides the weekly schedule, but you need to click on the ‘week’ button to see it.
This is when you click on one comic.
You can see title and author for both websites.
Daum has the comic’s total rating, but Naver has each episode’s rating.
Daum has author’s comments on this page, but in Naver, author’s comments are available for each comic.
Daum has ‘Blog, Favorite, RSS, Share’ buttons where as Naver has only ‘Favorite’ button. I think blog, favorite, share, RSS are too many and can get confusing how they are different. Maybe they can be seen as a drop-down button from one button.
Good things about Naver are that you can see other works by the same author and can read short descriptions.
These are the pages when you click one episode. Both sites have a function that is like a remote control that you can go to the top or bottom of the page. Daum has ‘auto scroll’ function, but personally I find this quite annoying. A gray bar consists of information about the comic appears at the top of the page for Daum. It appears/disappears when you scroll or click anywhere on the page. I feel like Daum can grab the reader’s attention and maybe bring them into the comic’s world better than Naver.
